The saying goes that 'records are made to be broken', but some should never have been set in the first place. Something like 40+ world records were broken at the Swimming World Championships in Rome over the duration of the meet. On the surface, as it were and more likely below it, that is impressive. Think about that for a second or two, 35 performances that were so good that no other human had ever achieved them before have been 'put away' in under a week.
